Comments:

I have been conscious of the fact that the volume of my intensity day over the last month has been creeping up too high.

The point of intensity day is not to accumulate a bunch more volume, through assistance lifts or otherwise. Let volume day do its job and keep intensity day short and heavy.

That bottom position bench from the pins is going to add pounds to my regular bench, I guarantee it. It’s a whole different ball game.

  1. Is the bar resting on the pins while slightly touching your chest? Where you get the idea?

  2. Yeah, you set the pins as low as possible, so that you have to literally crawl in under the bar and your chest is ALMOST being crushed by the bar. Then you press each rep from a dead stop.

I believe its mentioned an useful assistance exercise in SS and obviously Brooks Kubik is big on them, Andy Baker likes them too. But their utility really dawned on me since using the Slingshot because while I can lock out 140, I can only press off my chest 124, so I was like: "focus on strengthening the first half of your bench and you're bench will go up".
